Was Like Before Endometrial Ablation! >:-(

Hi!

I had an endometrial ablation a few years back for horrific periods (those who know. . gushing, clots, extremely heavy) and that seemed to at least make them manageable. Only time I've had a problem since was after surgery--will be 2 years ago this March--for colon cancer. Removed tumors--one large benign one (soft ball size) and a smaller one (stage IIa) from my colon and colon resection. Had no chemo, so cannot blame the ITP on that. Three months after surgery, no period (thought maybe I'd FINALLY kicked into Menopause) then made up for it. But it settled back down afterwards.

Fast forward.

Skipped November, but in December with the ITP had one lighter period then one like pre-ablation that lasted a little over two weeks! So I had this new diagnosis going on, major steroid infusions, IV whatevertheycalled it.. platelet infusions.. while bleeding to beat the band! Doc didn't seem to think it was significant! So I just suffered thru the entire ordeal.

Period finally stopped. At one point--level went up by 10. . then dropped again in a few days by 6. But I feel like I've been thru the ringer and never took Prednizone before, now trying to get OFF the stuff. . and suffering side effects.

I'm hoping I don't have another period like the last one! But I'm a bit ticked my doc didn't seem to think it was a big deal in the scheme of things.

I suspect I have fibroid tumors which may tend to bleed more with ITP. Anyone cope with this?

Hi, I had fibroids and yeah they sure did bleed, blood transfusions, platelets, plasma, you name I had to have it from fibroids bleeding, two options, one was hysterectomy the other was fibroid embolization, I had the embolization done and so far (two years now) all good.

My doctor thought it was a big deal though so maybe a doctors with the right attitude might be able to help, they need to understand how this restricts your life

Yes, I had heavy bleeding like that too. I was going through a pad every 1/2 hour at work. Like you, my doctor wasn't concerned. When I got my counts past 10, the bleeding went back to normal. I don't have fibroids.
