Does anyone have a Paraguard? was created by summerrain
Hi,

I am wondering if any of you gals currently have a Paraguard and how you fair with it having ITP? I had one in over a year ago for about a year and had it removed when I had to have a minor surgical procedure down there. I was going to have it put back in and then I got the diagnosis of ITP. My Hema does not want me to do it "just yet". I did have longer periods than normal when I had it in, like 7 days instead of 5 once it regulated. I do not want the Mirena. I appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Carla

I love the Mirena. Coming up on 5 years - almost time to get a new one. No periods. Occasional light spotting. Still have PMS symptoms though.

Thanks Chelle, I know some people who tolerate it well. Glad you are one of those!

I had Paraguard BEFORE I was diagnosed with ITP. I had VERY HEAVY PERIODS while using it (I'm talking tampon AND pad double for protection) and they lasted for a full 7 days. Not sure about Mirena but I have heard good things about it. I chose Paraguard at the time because it is hormone free.
Good Luck!
