It Works "Greens" and other supplements...

Since I was diagnosed in Aug 2014, a bunch of people have given me advice on managing my ITP- from diet and exercise to sleep and activities to hobbies and work... And of course everyone thinks they have the one tool that will cure me forever. If only that existed!

Recently a friend of mine bought me some It Works "Greens" which is a natural supplement drink mix that supposedly has 8 servings of fruits and veggies among other superfoods. I've read mixed reviews online and wondered:

Does anyone else use this product?
Is there anything I should be aware of when drinking Greens?

Thanks!

"natural" doesn't always mean good for you.

Have you gone to the website? www.beskinnybytomorrow.com/it-works-greens/
I see a lot of "Be Skinny...." - I see you can make money by being a distributor

Does this friend of yours sell the product?

I've had some luck with juicing spinach and kale
(Primarily) with some pineapple and apple as well.

No way would I do a powder or mix.
All natural for me.

One day I had 20 K count. My doc wanted to do ivig. I asked for some time. I drank five juices and came back a day and a half later and my count was 30+. (Can't recall exact number).

I feel it helps a little and gluten free seems to as well.

Counts can fluctuate so don't bank on it being the juice

My counts pretty much do their own thing regardless of supplementation. That includes recommendations from well-meaning friends and instructions from physicians (including my most recent hematologist) based on lab results. Besides, I'd rather eat the fruits and vegetables, though a protein smoothie made with bananas and strawberries is good, too.

I have many decades of experience with this illness. Previously, I never attempted anything natural and was always on meds.
I haven't been on meds for a VERY long time.
Although at first I was conflicted with a doctor who was having me take very frequent blood tests for about a year, but in the end, I'm grateful, because a pattern emerged. I don't think it makes a huge difference, nor do I think it will cure me. But, when I didn't drink my drinks due to being very busy or lazy, my counts would go down. And when I drank them often, my counts would go up. Ironically, at the recent convention, I met a woman who told me my own story almost verbatim. For both of us, this little bump in count is keeping us from needing medication.

Had another bump in count recently going gluten free. But, I don't have repeated experience with that particularly thing. Will keep on observing.

But, for me anyway, I am convinced those drinks helps me a little.

Maybe each little bump up will keep those nasty meds AWAY and that is GOOD in my book.

Of note...the founder of pdsa believes natural methods cured her of this illness.
