Another Adventure

Another Adventure was created by HSheppard
Hello all! I thought I take a few moments and describe my latest experience in "The Search for Platelets".

Recently I went to see a Naturopathic Doctor, just to see what she would say about my ITP. I found a lovely lady who was a former hematologist/internist. It was quite an interesting experience. She conducted a BioMeridian Test, which measured all the accupuncture points in my hands and feet associated with major body systems. The results were quite surprising!

As soon as she looked at the results she said, you have an Auto Immune problem, and your liver and spleen levels are a little off as well. She even identified my TMJ and PMS! I explained my "adventure" with ITP, and elaborated a little on my experience with TMJ and PMS. She sent me home with some herbal suppliments to try and get my systems back to where they're supposed to be.

I'm not hedging my bets yet. I'm supposed to get my counts done this week or next, so we'll see how that goes. But, I do have more energy than I have in a long time. Platelet related? Maybe not, but I am deffinately feeling more "balanced".

Joya,

I will let you know the results when I get my counts done. I'm not expecting miracles, but something in the 50s would be great!

I found that I usually felt more energetic and balanced after accupuncture also. The pills worked initially and then after a few months stopped working but that's how every treatment went for me. Initially a boost and then counterproductive. Some have had good results from blood well etc, so let us know how this turns out later.

I had my platelets checked on Tuesday... 31,000. That's up 11,000 from six weeks ago. Nothing drastic, but an improvement none the less. I have a habbit of yo-yoing, so I'll give it another six weeks, and see if this upward trend continues!

Blessings,
Hauna

Had my counts checked again today. We're up to 36! No bad, considering I'm just getting over a major throat infection (and I haven't been sticking to my suppliments like I should...). I'm going to see what another 6 weeks does. And, I promise to behave and stick to the regime. Even if these supplements keep me above 25 I'll be a happy camper!

I was running for a while too, and that really seemed to help with my energy levels/mood. However, I've become so busy with work and the kids that I've fallen off the wagon. I think it's about time I picked myself up by the boot straps...

Meditation sounds lovely too. I can't imagine getting even 5 minutes without someone calling out, "Mom...." or "Honey...". It would be fantastic!

Have you done (or are on)any of the conventional treatments? Like Prednisone..Win-Ro..etc...
I'm trying to get off the Prednisone, and just see what happens on nothing..

Kate,

I was on Prednisone for almost a year starting in 2007. I had a mid-line response at a very high dose, but as soon as I started to taper my counts dropped too. So, no more prednisone for me - YAHOO! I also did a round of Rituxan in 2008, but had no response. That was very disapointing. So, considering the potential side effects, I have elected not to treat as long as my counts remain above 20. I am asymptomatic, so I figure my chances of "springing a leak" are minimal. And, I have put my base jumping plans on hold for now. :P

Have you started the pred taper yet?

Blessings,
Hauna
