Hello,
What has anyones experiance been with reagards to frequency of IVIG infusions? I was on Prednisone for 5 weeks no results, then received IVIG 1 day dose 2 weeks ago, plates went from 12 to 43 last week and dropped back 19 ths week. Scheduled to have 2 day IVIG infusion next week. :) :)

It's really not a good treatment for long term use. The results don't last long and due to the time and expense involved, it gets old fast. It also doesn't cause remission. It is useful for having to get counts up for surgery or if someone doesn't respond to anything else. I never bothered with it due to the reasons stated. Who wants to do that every few weeks?

Have you tried anything else?

Droberts I have had 4 IVGs in the last 5 months. The first three brought up my counts to 100. However the last one failed. I was only at 19.it caused me to have severe headaches. I am trying Nplate and cyclosporine now.

It's a good drug to do when you are very low and are figuring out other treatment options because it works well to temporarily get you to safe counts, but 7 hours of infusions every few weeks gets long.
