It has been years since I've even seen anyone mention Cytoxan for ITP.

What are her counts?

According to the guidelines bloodjournal.hematologylibrary.org/content/115/2/168.full there are reports of people developing leukaemia after using it. Scary stuff. What about Nplate. It's said to have 85% success rate which is better than any other drug out there.

Have you had a second opinion? Platelet transfusions don't work for ITP. Counts of 11 to 50 are typical with N-Plate. What are you trying to do?

the platelet transfusions keep her out of er, we r trying to b at 40, or 50 all the time, has not been 11 lately, but under 50 we have to get platelets sometimes twice a week, even with all this the platelets are not at a good steady level, if we could b 50 and above all the time would b great, but we r not, now with n plate not working the doctor says to try cytoxan, it is scary, with all this she has diabetes

I also do not understand what the platelet transfusions are achieving.
I'm with Sandi, I would get a second opinion (immediately).
It really seems like y'all are being put through some unnecessary things there.

I don't understand the urgency of getting counts above 50. Unless there's internal bleeding issues, I'd be happy with counts going between 11 and 50, it sounds ideal to me. It's above 10 which is good and it's best not to be too high on Nplate because of the risk of clotting at high counts. The last three counts I had before antibiotics sent me silly high, are 44, 25 and 28. I'm pleased with that.

Platelets from a transfusion will be treated by the body just as if they were "homemade" platelets - they will be destroyed.
