Dexamethasone Question

Hello, I am hoping for some help with Dexamethasone. 2 weeks ago, had another IVIG, count went from 2 to 299, Last Friday dropped to 201, Tuesday 57. Started the 40mg x 4day Dexamethasone on thursday, If it is going to work, how long should it take to see results? Today i was rolling some carpet, and my hands, and arms are covered in petechiae, but not on legs yet. I have a feeling i am below 10, but dont want to go back to hospital for another IVIG, until i know if the Dexamethasone is going to work, if i get the IVIG, it will raise my count.
I have only done 2/4 days of the Dex. dose. Even though i am wired, and very angry, the side effects so far seem to be way better than the side effects of IVIG.

For anyone who has taken Dexamethasone, How long should it take to see a rise?

I am fully aware everyone is different, but, if there is a trend, i would like to know.
Prednisone does nothing for me, danazol worked in 1999 - remission until 2011, but am taking Danazol 300mg 3x a day, for almost a month, and i think its almost time to give up on it.
Still have spleen, have had a plugged ear since November (tube being put in next friday), and a H Pylori test booked for the 28th of feb

Everybody is different but don't forget that even when the count rises it takes time for the petechiae to fade.

I just checked my records. I started 4 days of dex on a Tuesday with a count of 5. The next Tuesday my count was 202. And the following Tuesday it was 1. I didn't do dex again.

took me a couple of days, i started the 4 day dex on a wednesday with ivig wed and thursday of it, started at 22, by tuesday i was 93, thursday 200, the wednesday of the next week (last wed) i was at 128. im not going to say it worked for me, but it did have the best affect and stayed up for the longest time thus far. if you have pet. ask your hemo to order a cbc, without an appointment, if its low, see them, if not, atleast you would know.

I just finished 3 sets of Dexametasone. each set for 4 days.
It has some bad side effects like putting on weight especially near the chin. Swelling in the knees.

My doctor said that he would give me another set after a month.
dexa does work for 2 days on me. thats it and then I back to 4000 count. But it saves me for 2 days at least.

Two days? Oh my. You are very dedicated to go through all that for just 2 days. I wouldn't have your staying power that's for sure. Here's hoping you get more than 2 days in the long run.

Thanks for the replies, i think i may consider the Dexamethasone a failure. Started day 1 on the Thursday (wed blood test was 57 - got results on thurs). By Saturday (day 3), was completely covered in petechiae, blood blisters in mouth, bruises, went to hospital with a count of 4 - but unlike any 4 i have ever had before, normally i dont get the blood blisters until 2, and a week later, i still have the bruises, and some petechiae left. Did 2 days x 80g of Ivig. Havent had a blood test since, The Dex was AWFUL - and i think it may have worked against me, is that possible?

A count of 2 and 4 are pretty much the same thing. Platelet counts are not 100% accurate. They get close, but are not perfect.
