Rituxan treatment was created by debrasla
My 22 year old son is on his 3rd treatment today and his platelets are lower this week! I just dont get it, last week they went up to 64000 and today they are down to 43000. He has one more treatment next week. Then what happens? How do you know if it works?

Probably the Rituxan hasn't kicked in yet. Often it kicks in on the 4th or 5th week, sometimes longer. So any platelet changes are probably not related to the Rituxan treatments yet.

Debra - Erica is right. Rituxan doesn't work that fast, so counts will just do their normal gig and bounce around until Rituxan kicks in.

You know if it works when you begin to see normal counts. For some people, that can take up to 12 weeks after the first infusion. The average response time is 4 to 8 weeks after the first treatment.

His counts are still in a safe zone, so try not to worry.

Don't worry, that is how I responded to Rituxin. My count went up and down during treatment. The rise was slowand took several weeks after the last treatment.

Dear friends
On 28 feb I had nose bleed . very little though. and my platelet count was only 5000.
i have finished my 4th dose of Ruituximab yesterday and now my doctor says i would have to wait for another 8 weeks to conclude if Rituximab is a success or failure.

I have now stated the 4th set (4 days each set) of Dexamethasone tablet (40 mg)

I love this website. thanks for reading.
I'll update my progress.
