Hello. I have read most of the posts about Dex., and have found most people have some pretty horrible side effects. What im wondering is how effective is it? Prednisone does not work for me, ivig works for 10 days. Currently taking 600mg Danazol daily (been a week - may have put me in remission in '99) but new specialist wants me to take the Dex, and i don't really want to try it if there is not a high response rate. Any ideas??? Thanks.

It either works or it doesn't, just like any other treatment. Some people get really great counts and a dramatic drop after a week or so...back to single digits. It can get counts up and keep them up for a while and that happens for, I'd guess, about 1/4 of the people who try it.

It would have been my next treatment to try if I'd needed one.

I started the 4 day high dose dex 2 days ago, the first was rough, i had every side effect imaginable. Tonight isnt so bad, in fact im afraid my bodies immune to it but tiem will tell. Im also having IVIG during the day all 4 days, my count was 22 monday morning, 51 wednesday morning. Ill find out more when i go back in 8 hrs, but aside from the first day so far so good. Idk about the coming off thing, but ill post this weekend if its good or bad.

Dex has always worked for me. But only as a quick fix to get above sub-5k counts.
It only lasts a few days for me. Enough time to get something else in there to maintain counts.
Can't stand the stuff myself. But it does work 'for me'.
A word of caution; do not take Dex, then play guitar in a biker bar.....it ain't pretty. :)
