Hi there,

Just had my bone marrow aspiration and boy oh boy, glad that is over!! I go back friday for my results. I have had IVIG and had a reaction, then 2 doses of Dex and now low does of pred, hate being on the steroids, weight gain, anxiety, you know the whole gambit.

So now my Hema is taking about giving me Anti-D, explained side effects etc.. and then talked about the fact that it can make you bleed out and can't stop>>>

If you know anything about Anti-D or have been given it as treatments, please advise me.

Thanks so much

Make you bleed out? I never heard that one. It can cause destruction of red blood cells, but for most people it's very mild.

Very few people have problems with Win-Rho. There are rare reactions, but that's true with any treatment. I had five weekly treatments of Win-Rho and didn't have any problems. I felt a little flu-like, but just took some Tylenol and went back to work. I would have kept using it, but it didn't raise my counts at all.

Prednisone and Rituxan. I also tried Danazol, Dapsone and Win-Rho with no luck.

I haven't had anti-d at all and basically only posting because of your comment about the bone marrow test. Did you have any pain relieve? First time I didn't have anything and hadn't a clue what was about to happen. Yeh, the team looked after me alright but learned the hard way so when I was transfered to sheffeild I had wised up an unaware to me at the time I refused to have it done. I didn't realise they would listen to me when I simply said "no". Most medics don't. In the end they bribed me with some kind of pain killer and oxygen or something and I didn't feel a thing at all. 100% pain free. If they ask you to have another ask for pain killer and oxygen.... It worked for me back in 1994. Luckily they hadnt done anymore and try to warn anyone who is about to have one, though one friend claimed she didn't want to know so I gave her that space....

I bet you are glad its over.....

WinRho put me in a "remission" - one IV [in September 2002, no treatment since but lower than the low-norm count .

Please ask your doctor what he means by "bleed out" - and also where we can find information on that. I have never heard of that and if is the case we need to know
about it and where we can read up on it. Thanks!

Simply say no next time if they want another test at all. You are allowed to say no. I didn't feel anything with the full pain relief and I don't make things up. Politely just say no.

I'm confused - I thought you had your bmb already [by your 1st post in this thread]& getting the results on Friday, but now you post that you just had it and are glad it is over. Did you have 2 of them?
