Need your help!!! was created by Happy
Hi,

I am new to this forum but so glad to have found it!!

Here is a bit of history about me......9 years ago when I was 4 months pregnant I was diagnosed with ITP. My platelet count was 70 and I was put on prednisone taking about 12-14 pills everyday. I gained alot of weight within a few months went from 95 pounds to 140. I wont tell you too much on how much streach marks I have on my body but I am sure you can imagine. Anyhow the pills were bringing it up a bit and then down so then was decided to do IV which was slow but was bit better.
My child at 7 months decided she wanted to come early :woohoo: so my water broke and was rushed to critical care hospital. There I had my daughter and platelets were 13 but thank god everything went well. She was born 6 pounds 7 ounce and was a healthy baby. My platelets didnt go up so had to continue IV.......after 3 months my Dr gives me the tells my about having my speel removed and said that it would cure it. And so I did remove my speen and it has worked for me. My platelets went to over 150.
It been 9 years now and everything is good. But now more then ever I would really like to have another child. I have been afraid since so thats the reason why have waited so long until now.
I would just like to know if anyone else has experience anything like me and did they have another baby and how did things go??? When I did ask my Dr about another baby she was not to keen about it and said well you are a high risk.
So please any information would be sooooooo appreciated. Sorry for the long post!!!

I'd get a second opinion. I don't see why you'd be high risk when everything is normal right now. There is a chance your counts could drop during the pregnancy, but that could also happen if you get a cold.

I agree, i'd be getting a second opinion too, if you really want to have another baby, I'd be getting as many different opinions as I could and even if all the doctors are of the same view, there are other options like having a suragacy (sorry if I spelt that wrong) or even adoption but I would be getting that second or even third opinion to see what other doctors think. Sometimes a new doctor can give u a fresh perspective on things. I don't know how u would be considered high risk either. The last count you had is fantastic and would certainly be high enough for surgery if u had to have it so I don't know why it wouldn't be high enough to have a baby.

Thanks for the feedback...... I just would like to hear from some people that might have been in the same situation as me and still had a baby. I think that would give me hope and encouragement to hear there stories.
I cant do to much as I am currently in a different country (UAE) and dont feel to confident about the doctores or the facilities that they have. When I do come back to which will be in 7 months I will for sure go and get other doctors opinions.
