I play video games hehe. It's not too dangerous!

I haven't had any problems with work yet thank goodness. I remember when I was first diagnosed I was scared every time someone bumped into me, or especially going up or down the stairs with my roll-ups (waitress)

I'm getting a medical alert bracelet which makes me feel a little bit safer outside and at work.

Video games, crafts (I like to make bracelets), movies (especially TV shows as you can watch seasons and seasons of them), reading (again I love series).

Hope this helps.

I had 2 months off when my counts were really low. I did a lot of cleaning, going through "stuff" that has accumalated over the years. Oh yea, I also got addicted to pogo.com. Scrabble and Boggle Bash. I love it!

I have a question regarding leaving work. I would like to take medical leave as our HR was suggesting but has any of you had problem getting doctor to write a note using ITP as reason? My doctor said I can still work but I really would like to take some time off my high stress job. Any info would be appreciated.

Yes ITP may be the reason you want off work. But surely your doctor can say your stress is stemming from this.

Here in Australia, the doctor doesn't need to write a reason on our medical cerficiates. The doctor usually just writes medical issues or blood problems. They don't need to go into detail because you might not want your boss to know what your medical issues are. All your boss needs to know is you were seen by a doctor and was certfied as being unfit for work for the days mentioned on the cerficiate. I don't know if it is any different in other countries.

I was working with Adults with learning difficulties and mental health problems so it was not safe for me to work with low counts. Since then we registered with social services to look after children with learning difficulties. We do respite but want to do a permanant placement. I haven't felt 100% since the ITP came along and have joint pain, muscle weekness & lethargy etc. I find helping at our Animal refuge takes up a lot of my time aswell as writing an Alley Cat monthly newsletter. Ive taken a sign language course and cake decorating.
Find something you like doing and enjoy, someone comes along very quickly with jobs for you to do!

Hobbies with ITP? I do the same hobbies I did before I knew there was ITP.
I collect handguns & rifles; Shooting them in target and hunting. I throw axes and knives for fun. I race slot cars, and occasionally real cars. I fly model helicopters, airplanes and run steam powered model boats. I do a lot of model building.... Yes, with sharp knives. I collect 1950's and 1960's science fiction and racing/hot rod movies. I play guitar. I spent a lot of time last week with a couple of chainsaws removing and trimming trees in my yard.
In short; The only hobby I have shelved for now has been playing out with my old band in clubs. But I did play out regularly for 6 of the 7 years that I've been diagnosed with ITP. I'll probably put another band together after the holidays once my Promacta dosage gets lowered.

Okay....I no longer skydive, surf, bicycle tour, or camp much....and I have not hopped a freight train since 1972.....but I had stopped doing most of that stuff years ago anyway. B)
