Hello everyone, hope you all are having a great weekend. I have a quick question. I'm still new to ITP and my counts have never been low enough to manifest bleeding or petchia. If I ever notice petchia, is it safe to make an appt with a doctor or do I need to go to the hospital immediately?

my son has itp for tow years now, if you don't have a sign for bleeding, you can go to your hema and do a cbc and see, i used to go to ER every time he has a petichia , but this is so annoying, waiting time , and insurance and so manythings you have to go through it, so many time my son had a petichia in the weekend i took him to the hospital and they made me wait the night with no treatment if his count low ,so now i wait until i go first do the cbc with his doctor, and then he direct me , but now he had the spleen out , so i hope he will be in remesion for long time

I wouldn't go to the hospital with petechiae. If you are covered in them though and have other bleeding symptoms, don't hesitate.

I personally don't think just showing Petichia warrants an ER visit. I seem to express it around 50,000, but I don't have a lot of historical experience yet. But my point is you need to understand your own symptoms and system relationships. My hemo says if I'm not expressing any other bleeding signs (open, wet, gums) then don't overreact. Easier said than done but with time we all become for comfortable with ITP.

Prayers of comfort and strength to you.
