Hello everyone! I was just released from the hospital after 5 days! My count went below 1000. After several dosages of prednisone (no results) they used WINROE. It brought my count to 10000 (still very low) Now they want to take my spleen. I am curious about other / less invasive measures.

THANKS!!!!!

Hey Dan!
If you hunt around in the forums, you'll come across a lot of stories and experiences of others. I got a ton (and still am) out of this site when I was diagnosed this past March.
I did Prednisone for 2 months, and then got off it, cause it wasn't worth it to me.
I'm currently not treating, and just hanging out with a count that hovers around 14K. But that's just me.. I'm not a bleeder, and it's my own personal decision not to treat. My hema is nervous for me.... sort of.
Good luck to you!
Kate

hello .yes i agree look around .my experience was different I was diagnosed and hospitalized at 19k and very responsive to steroids.but became steroid dependant I chose to have my spleen taken out.i was 47 and I did not like the rituxin idea at my age and data available was not encouraging..I have gone amost a year not with 1 bout of steroids and other bouts clinging to 19k and as high as 200k since spenectomy.I am pleased to say that i am off of steroid and happily at 200 k..but the past shows that a simple cold sore can put you in the hospital..I think now my body has leveled off and sept 10 2010 wwill be 1 year from my surgery..I hope this helps .....steve
