Did anyone else lose their hair like me? was created by Michelle
My hair is coming out by what seems like the handfuls. I can't figure out if it's the current Dex, or the fact that I finally got completely off the Prednisone - but that wss about 5-6 weeks ago.

Anyone else have this experience? If so, how long did it last and did it grow back afterwards?

Hi Michelle,

The thinning hair is a side effect of withdrawal from prednisone. I had the same thing happen, and was worried that some other disease was causing it, until I found out that it was related to the prednisone withdrawal.

Take heart it is temporary :) .

Michelle,

When I was on prednisone, my hair grew thicker and grew fast. As soon as I came off it, all the hair that I gained started falling off! I think it is a side effect of coming off prednisone.

Hi Michelle,

I've been off prednisone 2 weeks now. My hair is definitely falling out more than ever. Not sure if it is due to the withdrawal, because so many other things can also cause hair loss! I take another med for my Sjogrens, generic plaquenil, which lists hair loss as side effect and I had a friend tell me recently that it also comes with middle age!

How scary though, I never thought one of my problems might be going partially bald through all this. Lets hope the hair grows back soon, I know that I am trying to keep that in mind when I start to feel bad about it. I hope to get my haircut soon to see if when shorter, it will look fuller. Maybe your hair loss will stop soon, I hope so. :)
