Does anyone have experience with taking Zithromax or a similar antibiotic and it's effect if any on your platelet count?
Unfortunately, I have bronchitis and my Internist wants me to take Zithromax. I am concerned as to what it might do to my counts.

Thank you for responding.

Assuming Zithromax is the US name for Azithromycin then it is the antibiotic my haemo recommends.
I've taken it 4 times in the last 7 years and it has never affected my platelet count.

Yes it is Azithromycin.
Thank you for responding. It gives me reassurance that the drug will not cause my count to drop when I go to the haemo on Friday.
Stay well!

Long time ago, my first haemo believed i had a relationship between staphilococus infection and itp. I was at antbiotics several times and staphilococus disappeared during a time...and my platelets increased a little...
So maybe you will help at least for a short period of time, your immune system
