I got my first Pfizer covid vax on 3/22. On 3/25 I was admitted to hospital with 14 platelets and a GI bleed. Went home on 3/27 with a 161 count following 2 units each of IVIG, dexamethazone, and platelets. Readmitted on 4/5 with 10 platelets, got a unit of platelets and a unit of IVIG but fell to 8 the next morning. Got a 2nd bag of platelets that again resulted in anaphalaxis requiring an epi pen. Today my count is 12. I've been on doptelet for around a year, taking 20mg. 4x weekly. We upped me to daily the day I got here, I've now taken it for 6 consecutive days with little result. Every time I've taken it for 7 consecutive days in the past I have hit 800+ and had to hold it, causing me to immediately crash to single digits so this current lack of response has me gravely concerned. Has anyone else had a similar experience following a covid vax? Was it the Pfizer vax? I'm seriously disappointed that I won't be getting the 2nd shot, I was really looking forward to fear-free hugging of my BFF, but her hubby has CLL Leukemia and the genetic markers that indicate only one treatment has any hope of working, so we won't risk it now until covid is well & truly gone. Assuming that day ever arrives. I'm not a happy camper at all.

Oh dear, that was awful! People keep asking me if I will take the vax! After reading this pretty sure I will not even try try it! Especially after getting ITP last November after a flu shot and pneumonia shot! Happened 4 days after shots! Went to hospital with 2 and had to do IVIG and steroids, thankfully it brought my platelets up to 450, but they started going down 3 months later and steroids I take do bring them back up to around 40 but only temporarily! Then just had another bout this week and I went on steroids again for 5 days! Blood test tomorrow! Hoping you get better and stay fearless! I feel like a warrior in a battle!

  • Received diagnosis of ITP in July of 2016 after going to emergency in Vancouver, BC, Canada and finding I had 3 platelets at that moment. Repeatedly had crashes every 3 to 6 months. In 2019, one crash & 2020, after an imminent crash, raised them naturally

Reading the book Wish by Spirit by Joan Young inspired me tremendously with my ITP. Give it a read. Her story was so difficult but found natural ways to get towards remission. It will inspire you. It inspired me. Got it on Amazon. Wishing you strong platelets and lots of small victories that add up to the big one.

Lizabeth- so sorry this happened to you and thanks for sharing. I'm currently not working or going outside much, so I stick with tests and medical masks, but I'm thinking about getting a vaccine once I start working again in a few months maybe, so I'm very curious what experiences others have.
Vancouver thanks for the book suggestion, I'll probably buy that, too.
