Hi there, i'm new to the group having stumbled across it thankfully while searching for low platelet information. Im a 51 yearold male with a current pc of 34 ( which is falling week to week ). My doctor picked up on it during a routine blood count and after liver scan and CT scan which thankfully came back with no underlying issues that might have been the reason for my low platelet count i am now stuck in limbo as to what to do next really. I suffered from a mouth blood blister last week, which id assume would be a sign of my condition.

Any advice as to what to do next with regards to my GP who doesnt seem that concerned greatfully appreciated.

Justin

You are in the UK - mrsb is too and she will see your post and respond - she's got a lot of knowledge.

However I would say that if I were you I would want to be seen by a hematologist - can you make that happen?

  • I am the mother of a one year old, happy boy whose ITP is officially in remission. He was diagnosed at 10 months with a count of 2. Today he is around 360. I am grateful for this group and the comfort of knowing we were not alone on this rollercoaster

Hello! I'm new to this group too, and as a mother to a one year old boy with ITP. His count is also 34 this week, which is better for babies than adults. You'll need a hematologist to help you with your treatment plan. Most regular doctors don't know enough about it. The blood blisters happened to my son when his count dropped to 2. He received IVIG treatment the night he was diagnosed. Thank God his pediatrician had heard of ITP before and knew who to connect us with. Good luck to you!
