Hi everyone,

Just something I've learned through my current pregnancy (I'm 38 weeks today!) that I wanted to pass along. Make sure that your OB and hematologist have privileges at the same hospital and preferably that they know each other/have worked together before to manage patient care! I have had a rough time trying to coordinate my various doctors making sure that everyone is on the same page about everything. Today it was particularly complicated because my counts dropped after being on prednisone for 3 and a half weeks and the maternal fetal medicine specialists wanted to admit me ASAP to try IVIg, but my hema does not have privileges at the hospital where I will be delivering. Also, the hospital where my hema DOES have privileges does not have a labor and delivery department, and the OB did not want me there in case I have bad side effects from the IVIg that could affect the baby in some way or in case I go into labor. So instead the OB is going to admit me and a hematologist on staff at the hospital (who I have never seen before) will be ordering the IVIg.

Just wanted to pass this along in case it is useful to any of you. I like my hematologist just fine, but after this pregnancy I'm thinking of trying to find a different one just so that in the future (and for any future pregnancies) it will be easier to keep everyone on the same page. Good luck to any of you who are expecting or trying to conceive!

Please keep us posted - you're almost there! I'm 29 weeks now and starting to get nervous about the baby's platelets. I know it's not a high chance that her platelets will be really low but I still worry a bit.
