I'm 25 weeks into my 2nd pregnancy. Recently diagnosed with ITP after sudden and unexplained bruises started appearing all over my body.
My platelet counts as of last Monday were 6,000 (down from 180,000 at my November labs). I have since been pulled out of work and am on 80 mg of Prednisone daily to increase platelets. I have been tested for everything under the sun and they think this is JUST pregnancy related though strange I didn't have any obvious sign of ITP with my last pregnancy.
5 days into the medication now, my weekly blood draw showed an increase of 3000 platelets so I'm at 9000 now which is AWESOME but the heartburn from the Prednisone is AWFUL...
I'd love to hear your tips.

Id ask for some rx strength prilosec. You can take over the counter but the doseage is strong in rx strength. I had bad heartburn to begin with...and being pregnant only made it worse. Doube check with your ob but mine told me after 12 weeks I can pretty much take anything the offer for heartburn rx strength or otc. I have also heard the swallowing a teaspoon of baking soda helps as well but I have never tired it. I live off tums along with prilosec.

I've tried baking soda. It works but tastes horribly bad. Makes you want to throw up. If you must, dilute it very well.
