Need to share was created by AnnaB
Hello,

I just need to share with people who will understand...
I am 11 weeks pregnant. Before pregnancy, my platlates were stable 60-70 for probably 4 years without Prednisone. (Before that I was on Prednisone for more then 10 years).
Now its dropping 49, then 41... My Hemo wants to put me on Prednisone again.
I feel so sad... I was hoping that may be I will need Prednison at the end of pregnancy, before delivery... But no, I will need it now...
I was even crying yesterday after I knew... But what can I do...
The most imortent thing that everything will be OK with the baby.

Thank you for reading this.

Anna,
Are you having any symptoms? I was at 40 when I got pregnant. When I was about 12 weeks my counts dropped down to 30 and have sat there for 2 months. Just this last week my counts went up to 37. My hema and OB both think that my counts will go up on my own and want to save the steriods for delivery. The baby is healthy and everything is going great with us. Im currently 22 weeks pregnant. I am going in for another fetal growth ultrasound at 30 weeks, most people only get that at 20 weeks. But so far everything is great. If you dont have bleeding symptoms why not suggest the wait and see approach? I am considered high risk but I am planning on a normal vaginal birth. I go to see both the hema and OB every 3 weeks, get my counts checked and check the baby out. I hope you get this figured out I dont want to do steriods. I have issues with my sugars when Im on steriods to begin with, so Id rather stay off as long as possible.
