10 month old with ITP was created by Cpedalino
I'm still learning a lot about ITP my 10 month old son was diagnosed with it in September. His latest blood results showed that his ANC (neutrophil) count is at 0. And his platelets were at 36,000. I was wondering if anyone has experienced their ANC count being at 0.. They are still doing a lot of different test on him to rule everything else out. He responds to IVIG very well but only for about a month so he will be trying steroids next.

A low neutrophil count doesn't have anything to do with ITP, but the two together could indicate something such as Evans Syndrome or other disorders. It's also possible that it's just a flukey thing and all of it will resolve on its own.

Many times, children are not treated for low platelets and the 'watch and wait' option is used. How low do his counts go?

It's possible that it is something other than ITP if he has other symptoms. You said he's going to have some more tests? Hopefully the doctors will get to the bottom of it. Poor little thing! I hope they figure it out soon. Let me know.
