hi our 4 year old was just diagnosed and its tough as we are not sure whats causing it. i'm jsut wondering if there are any suggestions of things i can feed her or vitamins i can giver her to help rebuild her platlets in her body or anybody with kids around the same age that are going through this or books with information on this condtion i can read.....

Hello. Sorry to hear about your daughter. ITP has no known cause, so you may never know what caused it. Sometimes a virus or certain medications can cause platelets to drop. Has she been sick lately?

Vitamins and diet generally do not help. You can try some different things if you want to, but it can be trial and error.

ITP in children is usually acute, meaning that it can go away within a few months. If not, and she is diagnosed as chronic, that does not mean that it will be forever. Remissions occur all the time.

Read as much as you can. It will help a lot in the long run. Be sure that you are reading credible web sites though. The ITP discussion group and website are also a good resource.
