My 7 year old was diagnosed at a well visit over 6 weeks ago. I'd noticed the bruising for some time but thought nothing of it. His levels have ranged from a low of 26 to a high of 40. Currently at 33 (2 weeks ago) I guess in reading your posts, I now consider myself lucky! He's a VERY active, athletic little boy. We've had to pull him from baseball until we know more. He's been so brave!! All the blood draws and not a single whimper!

It's just so confusing! Am I being cautious enough, too cautious, what if his levels drop suddenly, is it "only" ITP or something more serious? Should he wear a medical alert bracelet? Ugh!

I'm so glad to have found this forum. I know I'll refer to it often. He feels great, looks great, you'd never know but for the bruises and petechia.

Although, he complains frequently of a headache and even occasional vertigo. Anyone else had that complaint? I took him to ER one night as he suddenly turned ghostly pale with an awful headache and vertigo. Of course was better by time MD came around. Count was 40 that night. Must have been unrelated but every time he hiccups I wonder "Should I be concerned?"

I'm in the same boat. I have a 7y/o girl who was diag just over 8 weeks ago. When she was diag she was at 2000. We got to do the mad dash to the children's hospital and got a treatment of IVIG. We have only had a couple positive CBC's over the last few weeks. It feels like it has been an uphill battle. She does seem to have headaches most days and she is starting to have dizziness over the last week but her numbers are dropping. The doctor doesn't seem to think it really related but who knows. She has also had a lot of issues with ear infections which could be causing her dizziness. To look at her you would never know there was anything wrong she loves to run and play. Her bruising has even gotten better but the numbers just can't seem to level out we range from 20 - 40. Reading these posts and knowing that your not alone in this has really been a huge help to me. Hopefully it is to you also.

Our next battle is she has a loose tooth. Who would think that would be such a gut clinching concern?? Doctor just said "just try and let it come out on its own".. Ugh
