To my fellow Canadians, please pray for a speedy end to the situation in Moncton, NB. Last night, 3 RCMP officers were shot and killed by a 24 year old man. 2 other officers were also shot and are in the hospital under going surgery. The city is now in lock down while the police hunt for the man responsible. This is the worse situation we've ever had in NB.

Not sure if the coverage is going across the States or not, but please pray with us for an end without any one else getting hurt, or worse. Moncton is about an hour's drive from where I live.

I hope by now they have found the young man and have him in custody and no more lives lost. I'm so sorry - unfortunately know how you are feeling and what you are going through as similar things have happened very close to my area.

unfortunately he's still at large. RCMP thought they had him cornered in a rooming house, but it wasn't him. I think he has someone helping him. He knows the area real well too, so it's easy for him to hide.

Other police forces have sent members up to help find him. Maybe it won't be too much longer.

Last I heard he has not yet been caught - he may not even be in the area any longer so you be careful!

My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones, bless them.

Woke up to great news; they caught the sob late last night (just after midnight) without incident! All 5 officers have now been identified too. One of the ones killed was from here, Saint John; one from France and one from Quebec. They were 45; 32 and 40 years old. One of the wives is 6 months pregnant and has a toddler. There is now only one officer left in the hospital, but both are recovering well. The lock down is now over in Moncton and it's time for the healing and grieving process to begin.

We're not the smallest Province, but this event isn't something we'd expect in these parts. How appropriate that he gave up on D-Day! The only thing we're wondering now is, what happened to Cst. Ross's dog. There has been no mention of him/her. They were all so young!

Funeral for all three of them is tomorrow in Moncton. The idiot is charged with 3 counts of first degree murder and 2 counts of attempted. Hope they throw the book at him!

I hadn't heard that! Suspected it, tho. There is also speculation that he was getting ready to ambush them again when they went to catch him, but he was caught before he could grab his weapons.

Going to watch the Service this afternoon.

Missed the service so watched an online news footage. When I started to cry I had to turn it off! On a side note most everyone I knew wore red that day in support!

Steven and I both our red on! He actually called in sick to work that day so he could watch it! It was really nice to see Police Officers from the US and across Canada come to pay their respect. I heard that there was even a group from France and Australia here.

Danny, the dog, will be re-teamed with a new handler, so he'll remain in service. He's only been on the job for less than a year so it was decided to give him a new handler.

He seems to be very popular with some of the groups I belong to on Face Book. Some people think he should stay with the family, but Cst. Ross's wife believes Danny will be better off to keep working.

I would love to be in court the day the SOB goes to court. He'll be lucky to get a fair trial anywhere here in NB.

And I would bet that is what Cst. Ross would want too, that Danny keep working.

Think they will try to move the trial when it comes time for one?

I agree, Melinda. I think he would want Danny to keep working.

Hard to say about the trial. I don't know what the requirements are for a change of venue. I don't think he would get a fair shake here in Saint John either. Might have to go to a real small city to get one. On the other hand, I could be way off base and they'll have the trial in Moncton. Maybe he'll safe us all from a long drawn out trial and just plead guilty. One can only hope!

So the good news is, the idiot who killed those 3 Mounties and wounded 2 more got 75 years before being able to even apply for parole! Yea! He'll never see the light of day, except for when he gets outside for exercise, maybe! Now the families can move on and really start to heal.
