Back from our outback trek. It was fabulous. We travelled 3,200 kilometres (1980 miles) across amazing country, had lovely weather, safe travel & camped with an open fire under the stars.
Only had one flat tyre, 1 broken beer & the back window of the vehicle shattered on our last night, with bitumen road ahead.
We travelled over mostly rough dirt roads, across endless flat plains, through red sand hills, amongst rugged ranges & through rocky creek beds. Caught edible fish in a muddy water hole, acknowledged early explorers & historical sites, flew over the enormous salt pans of Lake Eyre, & had a beer in the smallest pub in Australia.
Our little old camper trailer coped well, & Greg & I coped with each other despite the steroids! He's a gem & I really appreciate the opportunity we had & the experience of our outback country.

Off early to the city to have window replaced, & oh yes the ENT for a check up - $287 to look up my nose & say all's well, no need to cauterize! I have been tapering my pred. dose - down to 20 mg. so far. Blood test Monday will be interesting.

It is very wintery, rough seas & raining. Miss our camp fire already . . .

Mj, that just sounds amazing. How long were you camping for, and did you free camp or caravan parks?

Hi Jac,
We had 8 nights, 2 in caravan parks (due to timing). One was a bush setting & the other was disappointingly not.
The rest of the time we stayed at designated camp sites for a small fee ($10) on stations or in national parks. They provided a camp fire site, (bring your own wood), water, toilets & sometimes showers. We were quite happy to 'rough' it, but the sites are well kept, & provide some security on the long trip. Some had artesion bore water running, providing spas & creating wetlands. Pleasant surprise after travelling several hundred kms. a day. The best $2 I ever spent was at Innaminka in a meter operated 3 minute shower!!
As for photos, we have some great ones - I just need to figure out how to get them here

Wow - sounds sensational MJ - would love to know some of the other spots you stayed at. My family and I are probably heading from Melbourne to Perth for Chrissy this year (brother lives there) and we were going to take the camper trailer for another road trip.
Isn't it funny how much we take for granted, and also, how little we actually need.

Sounds like a ball was had! I've never been to that part of South Australia.
