What brand of food do you guys feed your dogs?

This is why: My puppy Bailey (1 1/2 years) has been a good eater since the day we brought her home at 6 weeks. She literally ran to her bowl at mealtimes and ate like she'd never had food before. She is healthy and muscular and very trim. We feed her Purina.

About two months ago, she stopped enjoying her food and refused to eat every so often. She would just leave the food in her bowl and ignore it all day. Not like her at all. It was sporadic, so we just kept an eye on her and she would eat more often than not. It simply looked like she was being picky.

In the past two weeks, things got worse. She would go a whole day and a half without eating and that worried me. She still ate her treats though and any scraps that my husband gave her (which I yell about all the time), so it didn't seem as though she was sick. She was still playful, happy and alert.

I decided to change her diet. I bought Iams and began boiling chicken and vegetables to mix with the dog food. She LOVES it and is back to gobbling her meals again. It is a healthier way to go, so I don't mind.

Question is: what brand do you use? I've read that Iams isn't all that great, but some sites stated that it is. I'm confused.

Perhaps Bailey is suffering from a cat poop deficiency? My dog gets plenty!

For every brand of dog food, there are dogs that eat it happily. My Norah is eating Beneful these days. I almost bought Pedigree last week, which she used to eat, but Ellen's list said "Beneful" and she's the boss. I've never had a picky eater, though, or even one that wouldn't overeat, given the chance.

When Sasha was a pup we took her to the vet for her needles and the vet told us Purina wasn't good for her. She was on Nutrience at the time and the vet said that was one of the better ones. But she did the same thing Bailey is doing so we switched her to Candidae which was recommended by our groomer. She seemed to like that and was still on it when we lost her last October.

Good luck with Bailey! Whatever works best for you and her.

My dog likes beneful healthy weight. She has been a healthy dog for 12 years on different beneful dog foods. It is good of you to cook the chicken and veggies. I once had a dog that I cooked a small hamburger mixed with a little dry food every day for years. Dogs are so worth whatever we have to do for them :)

That is what they were eating....Beneful Healthy Weight. Then Bailey stopped eating it. She made me feel like there was something wrong with the food, but it was always fresh and happened with several different bags.

The weird thing is that both of my dogs have become much more active the past few days since I changed their diet. They are playing so much more instead of napping most of the day. They are driving me crazy but I'm happy to see them having so much fun. Whatever is going on, it seems like a good thing so maybe I should keep things as is for a while.

Yes sounds like you should keep up what you are doing, I'd do the same thing if it seemed to make them feel better.

Dog lovers,

We have this trial on direct tv of dog tv, it's supposed to be stimulating for dogs. It's pretty funny. I don't think my dogs are soothed by it but it put my bf to sleep last night. There is classical music and a horse walking in a field.

Ellen reminds me we tried Kibbles-and-Bits and Norah loved it so much she was begging for it all day long. We had to give it away so that Norah would leave us alone!
