Do you guys ever fiddle around with filters? I like the way this one came out. Not sure if it will show up right on here, but I'm trying.

Oh it's not my own Exhibit! It's an open Exhibit. I'm just going to be one of many entries (if they accept my photos).

I live about two hours from the Amish. I've never really been there. Ha, I thought maybe you took them from the back for that reason. I'm not a good sneak either though. :S

Yes, I use filters all the time. They are great if used sparingly for subtle effect. I have Photoshop and Corel and use a few online.

I like the pics posted so far! Nice job, guys!

RH, I love looking at pictures too!

Sandi, love those shots! They're really good. Good luck at the Exhibit! Seeing Bailey makes me realize how much I miss our Sasha. I'll post a pic of her tomorrow.

Miss Bailey is now a year and a half. Time flies! She is still the sweetest ever. Only 50 lbs. So tiny!

How long has Sasha been gone now?

Hard to believe it will be 8 months on the 30th of this month. With what's going on with Mum, I haven't had time to be sad over her loss.

So cute. I can imagine how much you miss her. We lost Shelby almost 2 years ago and it's still hard.

I should have been more specific about distance (Amish). Lancaster is about 2 hours from me, and Punxsatawney is about 3 hours. Hard to believe that such a different lifestyle is so close. Funny that I have two reality shows near me. Dance Mom's and Breaking Amish. Some of the Dance Mom's live 20 minutes from me. I've never seen them but my friend has been at her kids sports events with them.

It's been 4 years since we had to have Molly put to sleep and there are times I hear her. I thought I heard her today, in fact.

Two years for Shelby already? Wow, it doesn't seem that long ago. Bailey's growing up so fast! How old is Snickers now?

Snickers is 6 and will be 7 in November. I can't believe that. My daughter has Snicker's mother and two brothers and it's so much fun to have them all together. I always think about the time when they all get old and start going at the same time. I can't stand the thought. I almost wish we didn't have them because it's too sad to imagine.

Okay Sandi, pull yourself back to now and shut up!

We so love our little pets!

Sandi, I have taken pictures of the Amish in the Lancaster area, but I had less luck than in Geauga County, Ohio. I think in Pa they are more spread out and they didn't seem to be out and about as much. That said, I did get a couple shots I really liked.

Here's the flip side to us taking pictures of people in other countries-- generally with their permission but sometimes from a long distance. Americans or non-Asians are still a rare sight in China. We were generally the only ones outside of the Holiday Inn businessmen in the hotel. I was sitting by myself, waiting for my husband and guide at the Terra Cotta warriors in Xian when two young teenage girls approached me, giggling and friendly. They asked if they could take MY picture. haha. Well, of course, I figured turnabout was fairplay and told them sure. Then I took their picture. The Chinese around us were all smiling at the back and forth. So here are the girls. They reminded me of girls from the 1950's. they are not like some of our teenage girls--

They are so cute! That would have been fun.

I knew a guy on SmugMug who lived in Africa, Cape Town. He got so many back street shots he was putting his life in danger, literally. He did have the best gallery though!

Sandi, how are your preparations for the July exhibition going?

I've just uploaded a few more photos from our trip to Cuba last year if you feel like taking a look.

fanaberje.blogspot.com.au/2013/06/reminiscing-about-cuba-2.html

Has anybody been taking any photos lately?

Nice shots! :) How cool to travel and get some really good photos! I love old buildings with peeling paint and colors.

It's coming along. I have the four prints and the frames. I just have to take pictures of the pictures without the glass in the frames, load onto CD-R and send them in. I'd better get moving since the entry deadline is July 1 and it's coming up fast. Just haven't had the energy to do it. I'll put it on the list for Monday and get 'er done! Then I have to wait a month to see if they are accepted.

That's great Sandi, you are almost there! How exciting. I do hope your prints get accepted, I'd love to see which ones you've chosen. Good luck and keep us posted.

Glad you ladies enjoyed the photos, I miss travelling and having all the time in the world to just wonder around and look for new inspirations. It's harder to be creative with a work schedule but will have to make more effort!

Enjoy your Monday!

Ha, funny story with Fear of Infinity. I needed a shot for a Photo Challenge, so asked my sister. I went to her house, which is an old country farm house. We went down into the basement, and I saw the old room with the toilet. I asked her if she would go in there for a few shots. It was her idea to wrap up in a sheet...I said go for it. She then began to act out looking like a mental patient and did a heck of a good job. I couldn't believe the result. It is a pretty disturbing shot, but probably one of the most powerful that I've ever taken.

These are very powerful images Sandi! Love the one in the snow, the two persons in the far back ground look so magical and ethereal. Your sister totally did a great job, that portrait is very convincing. And I like the symmetry in the first image of the houses. Congrats on posting them, we will be looking forward to some good news!

As for the family reunion I was going to suggest that you perhaps set up a tripod for some parts of it to put some of the physical strain off but now that it's cancelled there is no need to worry.

Good luck again!

Ania - I have a tripod but it really seems to hold me back with candids. I also don't think I'd be able to turn the knobs easily. Oh well, moot point now!
