a question about lyrica was created by CindyL
I'm just wondering if anyone is/has been on Lyrica. A friend of mine was on it, not sure for how long. He went in for a minor operation a couple of weeks ago, but when they did his pre-surgery bloods, his platelets were low, so the op was canceled. Even as of this past Thursday, they were 68. Is there a correlation between the two? He goes to see the same hema dr. I do, but not until April. I'm just curious.

Oh yes, I was on Lyrica. It was a nightmare. It didn't affect my platelets that I am aware of.

This is a drug my neurologist could prescribe for neuropathy - it is a drug I told him I would never take and he told me it is one he would never prescribe for me.

If you do a google search and put in lyrica and platelets you will come up with a number of sites that talk about Lyrica causing low platelets.

Thanks, Sandi and Melinda! So with any luck, now that he's off it, his platelets should return to normal.

Cindy let us know how your friend does - if his count bounces back since he is off Lyrica. I hope it does and he isn't bothered again!
