- What’s your name?
Tammy - Where are you from?
Seattle, WA - How are you connected to ITP?
I was diagnosed with ITP in 2006. - How/Why did you get involved with PDSA? Why do you choose to stay involved?
I got involved in the PDSA when I joined the support group in the area to meet others who understood what I was going through. I moved to being the facilitator or the group when the other facilitator moved. I took over for her to make sure others could get the help I got when I joined. - What is your favorite part about volunteering for PDSA and spreading ITP Awareness?
My favorite parts about volunteering and spreading ITP Awareness is all the amazing people I get to meet who work at the PDSA as well as those with ITP and being able to educate those who don’t know anything about ITP. - How has PDSA impacted your healthy journey?
The PDSA website has allowed me to have up to date information about ITP so I can talk responsibly with my doctor about what I want and need. - What do you do for work?
I am a K-8 teacher in a public school program that serves families who homeschool their children. - Share something unique about you and/or one of your favorite hobbies.
I take a tap class and love performing in recitals. - What can you be found doing on the weekends?
On the weekends I like to hang out with friends, walk/hike, build LEGO, watch movies, and crochet. - What is one thing you’d share with a newly diagnosed patient?
This can be a tip, important reminder, inspirational quote, or something else you feel compelled to share. You are your best advocate. Take the time to educate yourself about ITP and don’t leave your doctor’s office until you are comfortable with your plan for next steps.
